The email of the users you would like to identify. Only use in Emails.

Here’s your link:

Paste your URL to get your link.

What is a trackable link?

A trackable link is a link assigned with a unique ID (called “UTM parameters”) that is readable by common analytics software like Google Analytics and Triggerbee.

You can, for example, use a tracked link when sharing a blog post on social media or when sharing a link in an email. When someone clicks on the link, you can see which link was clicked.

Tracking links will help you see where your most profitable traffic comes from.

What are UTM parameters?

An UTM-parameter basically gives your link a name and ensures you know which link gets clicked, and where it was clicked.

UTM stands for “Urchin Tracker Module“, and it’s a snippet of text that you add to the end of a link, and they are useful if you share one link in multiple places.

Let’s say you’re promoting a blog post across Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and to your Email list, you can name your link “facebook” or “newsletter” to see which channel generates more traffic.

Example link without UTM parameters

https://triggerbee.com

If someone clicks that link you won’t be able to see where they came from.

Example link with UTM parameters

https://triggerbee.com?utm_campaign=link-builder

You see that highlighted text that starts with a question mark “?”, that’s what makes that link a trackable link.

An example of UTM parameters in a link, with utm_source, utm_medium, and utm_campaign:

https://triggerbee.com?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social-media&utm_campaign=black-friday-iphone-offer

The easiest way of understanding how you should use UTM-parameters is by thinking of them as answers to your questions.

– What’s the name of this campaign?

– Where was this URL clicked?

– How was the URL displayed?

The Most Common UTM-parameters

Here are the most common UTM-parameters:

utm_campaign

Campaign name identifies the name of the campaign.

Prefix: utm_campaign

Answers the question: What is the name of this campaign?

Example: utm_campaign=black-friday-iphone-offer

utm_source

Source helps you identify if a visitor came from search engines, social networks, your newsletter or mobile traffic.

Prefix: utm_source

Answers the question: Where was this URL clicked?

Example: utm_source=facebook

utm_medium

You can use medium to identify if your visitor came from social media, email, text message (SMS), CPC, banner ads, etc.

Prefix: utm_medium

Answers the question: How was the URL displayed?

Example: utm_medium=social-media

Here’s what you can do with the use of UTM parameters in Triggerbee:
